DETAILS

The Bat Mitzvah

When a Jewish child reaches the age of thirteen, he or she is recognized as an adult in the Jewish community. A great privilege of becoming an adult is the opportunity to lead a Shabbat service for your community and to read from the Torah, the scroll of the Five Books of Moses, from whence come the laws, history, and commandments of the Jewish people. The Torah is written in Hebrew, as are many of the prayers spoken and sung during the Sabbath service. Ayla will be recognized as a Bat Mitzvah, which means "Daughter of the Commandment," as she leads this service.

What to Expect

Saturday Morning Service

The service will begin promptly at 10:30 AM. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to get settled. The service is about 2 hours long, so please eat a meal beforehand. Following the service, there will be a Kiddush luncheon, which will end at approximately 1:30 PM.

Dress Attire: Modest for a religious space of worship (e.g., covered shoulders, slacks for men, no jeans, etc.)

A Note for Parents
